NOTD: There's a Blackout in the Gold Mine

I pained my nails in this combo yesterday and I am luuurving it! 

I used Maybellines Colour Show in Blackout and Barry M's Gold Mine as the accent. I have to say, I am VERY impressed with the Maybelline one - I've never tried the Colour Show polishes before and seeing as they were only £2.99 I figured I'd pick a couple up the other day (Maybelline is 3 for 2 at the moment after all), but I wasn't expecting all that from them. I'm sure this is partly because of the colour, but my nails were opaque with JUST ONE COAT. Crazy! They went on insanely smoothly with no patchy bits or major painting faux pas on my part (I suck at not getting it on my skin most of the time). Ahh I just can't say enough good things. I think I'll do a full review on them as soon as I've tried the others. But let me say this - they cost the same as Barry M but my god, so far they're better.

But I can't skimp out on the little Barry M finger nails! I picked this polish up the other day too so it's the first I've tried it, but I love how much glitter came out with just one coat as well! (It is on top of one coat of the Blackout, I haven't tried it on it's own yet to see how well the black in it holds up by itself).

Superdrug Haul!

So I went shopping... Oops. I'd been doing quite well at not spending money left right and centre for the last year or so, but now that the impending doom of me being a poor uni student is getting closer and closer I feel the need to buy EVERYTHING while I can... Ergh, you may be seeing quite a few hauls over the next month or so.

Anyway, let's get started! The first few things I picked up are a little boring, so bare (bear?) with guys. First off I just got myself some nail varnish remover - nothing too exciting, just Superdrugs own brand. Woooo crazy girl right here.

So yeah next up was just a moisturiser, I normally use the Simple Day Cream (in a little white pot) but I saw this one next to it and it was actually cheaper even though its over twice the size? I figured I might as well give it a go, if I hate it it's not the end of the world as it was only about £3.

Then I made my way over to Barry M - I've never really 'loved' the regular Nail Paints like other people have, I just found them quite thin and streaky and they would chip within a day on me. Saying that, I have been LOVING the new Gelly formulas so I picked up two more as they were 2 for £6 in Superdrug. I got Blood Orange and Plum, and Plum is what's on my nails here (I painted them literally as soon as I walked through the door at home, couldn't wait!)

I seem to have lost my top coat so I just picked up the MUA one for £1. Cha-ching.

Ah, St. Ives. How I love thee. I haven't had this for a good few months, and wow have I missed it. You just can't beat a good St. Ives scrub down.

The next thing I picked up I didn't really need, but they were right by the tills and were half price (ergh that's how they get you) and the fact that they're moisturising really intrigued me, so I figured why not, I'll use them eventually.

Now I absolutely adore my MAC Paint Pot in Painterly and I've heard a lot of good things about the Maybelline Colour Tattoos, so at £4.99 each how could I say no?

My camera really doesn't do this justice, but this is the colour Metallic Pomegrante. It's a beautiful deep plum-y crimson with gold shimmer. I think I'm in love.

Again my camera sucks at showing the colour here, but this is Permanent Taupe, a slightly frosted taupe brown that reminds me of MACs Satin Taupe. I can't wait to try both of these out.

Revlon had a deal for 2 for £10 on quite a few of they're products, so I definitely had to pick up two of the Colourburst lip glosses as they're normally £7.99 each. 

I grabbed myself Sizzle Canicule, the bright coral one that I've had my eye on for a while, as well as one of they're new colours Embellished, purely for the fact that it looks very similar to Topshops Beguiled lipstick, my favourite lipstick in the history of ever. Wow I sound so illiterate, haha. That's what that lipstick does to me!

I needed a new mascara as the one I'm using at the moment is HORRIBLE! I think the main problem is that it has a plastic wand, which I find clump my lashes together so much that it looks like I only have three mega obese lashes on each eye. Not a good look.

I saw the Rimmel Scandaleyes was on offer for just £4.49 (I think it's rrp is £6.99), and it has a natural bristle brush that it in a really intriguing shape - sort of bubbled at each end? Anyway I picked that up as it can't be worse than my current one, and I'm feeling quite hopeful about it!

One of the main reasons I went shopping in the first place was to have a look at the Rimmel Apocalips lip gloss/stain things, but when I got to them I was somewhat underwhelmed by the colour selection. I was really hoping for a deep dark red or a black cherry sort of colour, but no such luck. I still picked up  the red that they did have in Big Bang. I think the packaging for these is so cute.

Last but not least (even if I did start walking to the tills without it.. oops!) is the Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me. The scent is TO DIE FOR! I swear, if you like cherry you need this in your life. It's a tinted lip balm so it does come off as more of a pink glaze on the lips and not the red that it shows up as in the packeging, but I was expecting that so I'm not too bothered about it.

Depotting New MAC Quads - really quick and easy!

So if you're new to depotting, it's essentially just taking a product - eyeshadow, blusher, bronzer - out of its pakaging so you're left with it just in its pan and free to stick into other palettes to get all of you're things into one easy-to-reach place.

I've seen quite a few videos around about deppotting but most of them seem quite, harsh I suppose? And a lot of the time your products end up cracked or gouged or messed up in some way. I've been playing about with different methods and when I discovered this I just had to share. I haven't found this method being used online anywhere, although I'm sure I'm not the first person the work this out. Anyway, enough of the rambling and on with the show!

So for anyone that's wondering, this is the Temperature Rising quad from, you guessed it, the Temperature Rising collection from MAC. I might do a review on it soon, as I've seen quite a few negative reviews on it and I quite like it :)

Step 1; Slide a knife into the gap between the insert and the outside of the palette and gently prise the insert out.

Step two; If you turn over the insert it should look a little something like this, with about a third of each of the shadows pans showing through the plastic. Gently press of these with your thumb/finger and slowly work the shadows out.

Step Three; Voila! Your eyeshadow is free!

I like to write the names on a sticker to put on the back of the pan so I don't forget what they are, as well as sticking a little magnet to the back so that they are magnetised and will stay put in any other palette that you put them into afterwards. You can buy magnetic roll (like sellotape but a magnet) from places like Hobby Craft for next to nothing.

This works for the NEW quads. If you have an older one the back of the insert may not look like this and you'll have to use the regular depotting methods, sorry!
